Thom Wright, Guest artist
The public is welcome! Come and play!
Thom will show us some fun and clever acrylic pouring techniques.
• Can’t draw? No problem.
• Creativity blocked? This can help.
• Just want to play with color? You’re in the right place.
We’ll do direct pours, pours with mediums, dirty pours, pours with inclusions, and pours on a variety of substrates.
This will be a fun experience and give you the knowledge to do your own pours.
Think of it as a play date!
Bio: Born and raised on a Montana ranch, Thom graduated from NYU’s art program in the last century. His primary interest was printmaking. Then he decided he needed to make a living and did what everyone did in the mid-1980’s, he got his MBA. Luckily he was rescued from a world of corporate drudgery a dozen years ago when he went to work at DANIEL SMITH ARTIST MATERIALS. He produced their catalog and did all of the product sourcing for a decade. He continued painting, drawing, printmaking, and teaching. Sharing his knowledge of materials and art techniques is his passion! The acrylic pouring demo is among his favorites to teach!
This is our monthly meeting on Thursday April 6th.
11:30 – 12:30 General Meeting and guest artist presentation.
Meeting Location: The Chapel, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 4400 86th Avenue Southeast, Mercer Island. Free parking.
