MIVAL Holiday Show
October 30, 2017- December 22, 2017

MIVAL’s holiday art show opens at the Mercer Gallery at Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC) on Monday, October 30, 2017 and runs through Friday, December 22, 2017. MICEC is open to the public 7 days a week and is located at 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, WA 98040. Its hours are Monday – Friday: 7 AM – 9 PM; Saturday: 8 AM – 9 PM; Sunday: 11 AM – 5 PM.  The event is presented by the Mercer Island Arts Council in conjunction with Mercer Island Parks and Recreation and MIVAL. Featured art includes the painting, sculpture, jewelry, fabric art, cards and other work of the talented MIVAL artists and is a wonderful place to shop for quality artwork and holiday gifts. This year’s juror is artist Tom Hoffmann http://hoffmannwatercolors.com/. Please join us for the Opening Reception and Award Ceremony, with hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and live music, on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.   • Sept. 20th: Deadline for JPEGs
  • Oct. 15th: Entry Deadline
  • Oct. 28th: Art drop off at MICEC; 10 AM – 12 Noon.
  • Nov. 2rd: Artists Reception at MICEC; 6:30 PM-8 PM; Awards presented at 7 PM
  • Dec. 22th & 23th: Art pick-up after 4 PM on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 and 11 AM – Noon on Saturday, December 23, 2017

Summer Celebration Art Show
July 8 – 9, 2017

Summer Celebration 2017Mercer Island’s Summer Celebration will be July 8th and 9th and MIVAL will again have a presence at the street fair. Our Tent show will be in the Wells Fargo driveway and along the street as in the past. All MIVAL members are invited to sell their work at this event. You can register to show your work two ways:

The Guidelines and applications are on the last pages of the May newsletter. Copy them and fill out the application. Then either bring them to the May 4th meeting, leave them in the Gallery Mailbox or mail them to MIVAL, P.O. Box 134, Mercer Island, WA 98040. All who participate will be expected to volunteer to help in the Tent during the show. Please note the deadline for registering is June 12th.

Categories of art:
A – Painting, photography, other 2D: The number of pieces of art submitted is limited by size: 1 large (max. 32 x 38), 2 medium (max 22 x 28) or 3 small (max 16 x 16)
B – Sculpture, ceramics, glass, other 3D: 3 – 7 pieces
C – Shrink Wrap: Up to 7 items, provide your own labels. Cards: No limit on packets or individually wrapped cards, provide your own labels
D– Jewelry: (amount determined by size of container provided at tent – more information to follow) provide your own labels
E- Accessories: Scarves, Clothing, Bags, 3 – 7 pieces

Guidelines for art: All pieces MUST be sales-ready and properly wired for hanging (NO SAW TOOTHED HANGERS).
MIVAL retains 15% from all tent sales.

Labels for categories A & B will be provided, but please double check the information you send in for them. All other items offered for sale must have tags or labels attached to each piece or package using the first 3 initials of your last name, price and any other information you find relevant. Category C, D, E and F – keep your inventory list and bring one copy on the art delivery day.

The art will be hung and displayed at the discretion of the curators, for the weekend of July 8 and 9. MIVAL is not responsible for any artwork not claimed between 4 PM to 5 PM from the tent on July 9th.

A $25 storage fee will be assessed for unclaimed pieces. After two weeks, unclaimed art will be donated to charity.

MIVAL 43rd Junior Art Show

MIVAL is excited to once again recognize our young, creative and emerging artists. Awards and prizes are generously donated by Wells Fargo, MIVAL, and the Mercer Island Community. This event is open to all students grades K through 12.

The Junior Art Show is held during Summer Celebration from June 29th – July 9th at the Mercer Island Wells Fargo Bank.
