MIVAL has been involved for more than 50 years creating community through the visual arts. The organization welcomes all artists, all mediums, and all levels of interest. Monthly meetings with guest speakers are held each month. Special art shows such as Summer Celebration, Junior Art Show, and the Holiday Show as well as MIVAL Gallery, support all artists and their endeavors. Proceeds from these events support annual visual arts scholarships to MI High School. MIVAL has been a charitable organization since 1961.

MIVAL was the inspiration of a handful of local artists in 1961. At that time they agreed to form a network of local artists to meet regularly to discuss art, show and sell their artwork, and to provide art demonstrations to members. For fifty years, MIVAL has continued to provide inspiration and support to numerous artists in our community.
We have painters, fiber artists, photographers, as well as artists who work in glass, jewelry, ceramics, encaustic media and film. We hold regular meetings and exhibit our work at different business venues in our community.
In 2009, MIVAL opened a gallery in the spirit of a cooperative. Each member takes part in the support and management of the gallery. Membership is open to all members of the larger MIVAL organization. All MIVAL members have opportunities to show their work at the gallery as well as other venues on Mercer Island.
Board and General Meetings held Monthly excluding June, July, August and December. General Meetings are open to the public.
Join us for gallery receptions on the first Thursday of the month from 5 – 8 pm and see our CALL FOR ENTRIES page for open calls for upcoming art shows
MIVAL membership meetings are held September through May on the first Thursday of the month. Board meetings are 10 – 11:30 am and the general meetings are held afterward. General meetings often include a guest artist demonstration and offer members a time to get together informally.
